No better place on Earth to work and play
Central Florida is one of fastest growing areas in the country. The area enjoys one of the lowest unemployment rates in the state while offering a variety of things to do and see when not working. And, career opportunities in nursing and healthcare jobs have never been better. There are many great reasons to live and work in the Orlando area.
The Florida Hospital Healthcare System.
As one of the Top 50 hospitals (U.S. News and World Report, July 2003) in the US and in the Top Ten in some specialties, we have a lot to offer. Nurses and technologists experience an open, caring work environment with a wide variety of job selections and specializations. We're a place where people want to work and it shows!
Cost of living.
Because Florida does not have a state income tax, every dollar you earn goes further. Housing is still relatively inexpensive compared to other areas in Sunbelt states, especially for the amount of living space. Goods and services are priced at or below the national average.
Orlando area weather.
The average daily temperature in Orlando is just over 72°. Although January is the coldest month of the year with an average daily temperature of about 60°, Orlando experiences just 2 days a year (or less) of temperatures below the freezing mark. That means 363 days a year are comfortable, sunny, tropical weather!
Diversity of the community.
Orlando is home to people from many countries and cultures. We are fortunate to have many sub-cultures active within our large community. The City's web site is available in English and Spanish as is Orange County's. Festivals celebrating the diversity of the area are scheduled throughout the year.
Shopping and Dining.
Macy's, Saks, Neiman-Marcus, Bloomingdales, and Nordstrom's all call Orlando home. In addition, specialty stores such as Crate and Barrel, Banana Republic, Ann Taylor, and more are located throughout the area. If Factory Outlets interest you, the south Orlando area boasts one of the nation's largest gatherings of Factory Outlet stores with over 200 stores. World-class shopping centers are complemented by terrific casual and fine dining establishments such as Morton's Steakhouse and Seasons 52.
The sunshine makes outdoor activities in Central Florida a natural. Local governments have committed resources to creating some of the best bicycling trails in the state. Three large lake systems are home to water skiing, boating, parasailing, and more. Area ocean beaches such as Daytona Beach and Cocoa Beach are less than an hour away from almost anywhere in the metropolitan area. Several municipal golf courses complement private clubs and courses including the world-famous home of Arnold Palmer, Bay Hill.
Theme Parks and Attractions.
Almost everyone knows that Walt Disney World, Epcot, Universal, Islands of Adventure, and Sea World are within minutes of Orlando, but most locals know the area has much more to offer. From Kennedy Space Center where the space shuttle and rockets are launched to the Holy Land Experience. There is something for everyone in Orlando. Additionally, Florida residents almost always receive discounted admission at local attractions. Plus, as the official provider of healthcare services for Walt Disney World, Florida Hospital is able to offer employees discounted admission to all four Disney theme parks and its water parks!
If you're looking for a home, Florida Hospital and Orlando have a lot to offer.
